Writing II Collaborative Assignment 1

Purpose:
In this collaborative writing workshop, you will plan, draft, review, and revise an original paragraph about study habits. The purpose is to practice writing as a process rather than producing only a final paragraph. You will work with classmates to examine organization, clarity, connectors, sentence structure, punctuation, and vocabulary while maintaining responsibility for your own writing. This assignment supports Unit II goals related to writing simple narrative and descriptive paragraphs, using sequence and lexical cohesion, and revising an independently written first draft through feedback.

Learning Outcomes

By completing this assignment, students will be able to:

• Plan and write a clear, organized A2-level paragraph about a study habit or study routine.
• Use appropriate supporting details, connectors, sentence structures, vocabulary, and punctuation to develop a main idea.
• Give and evaluate peer feedback and use relevant feedback to revise an independently written first draft.
• Explain important revision decisions while maintaining individual authorship of the final paragraph.

Task

Complete a collaborative Paragraph Studio focused on the topic of study habits.

You will select one study habit or study routine, organize your ideas, and independently write a 8-10 sentence paragraph. You will then work with classmates to review the paragraph from different perspectives, discuss possible improvements, and decide which feedback to use.

Instructions

1. 2026-09-07: Choose and plan your topic by interviewing a classmate.
   Select one specific study habit or routine, such as preparing for an exam, reviewing vocabulary, taking notes, completing homework, studying with classmates, organizing your schedule, or avoiding distractions. Complete the graphic organizer provided in class to identify your main idea and supporting details.
2. 2026-09-09: Complete handout with information from your interview yesterday. You and your partner should complete one handout with enough details (e.g., four examples for each person interviewed), examples, explanations etc. to complete an 8-10 sentence paragraph. I would include at least four examples for each of you.
3. Name the file of your hand with the first names of you and your partner and upload it to [Teams](Partner Handouts
4. 2026-09-10: Complete outline.
5. Friday, September 11, 2026: Complete first draft.
6. Monday, September 14, 2026: Complete final draft.

Deliverable to Teams Assignment

Submit one Writing Workshop Portfolio containing:

1. Your completed graphic organize
2. Draft 1 of your paragraph
3. Your peer-review feedback
4. Your GenAI feedback record, only if GenAI was authorized and used
5. Draft 2 — your revised 7–9 sentence paragraph
6. Your 3–4 sentence revision reflection

Your submission should show evidence of the complete writing process: planning → drafting → feedback → revision → reflection.
