Course Description
This course, with its theoretical and practical approach, focuses on developing writing skills and composing different types of paragraphs (expository, narrative, descriptive, and argumentative) in English, from a beginner level up to A2 on the CEFR scale. It is a prerequisite for Intermediate English Writing.
Course Objective
At the end of the course, the student will apply the writing and composition process in order to develop different types of paragraphs (expository, narrative, descriptive, and argumentative) in English at an A2 level according to the CEFR, with openness to diverse cultural contexts, as well as pluralism, respect, and equity.
Methodology
The course is developed using an active, communicative, and process-oriented approach, in which the student participates in individual, collaborative, and group activities. In each unit, the planning, drafting, revising, and editing sequence is applied to produce clear and organized paragraphs in English at the A2 level, with appropriate vocabulary, connectives, and punctuation. Generative artificial intelligence may only be used in activities authorized by the instructor, as support for understanding models, activating prior knowledge, exploring vocabulary, generating ideas, or receiving feedback on a draft prepared by the student. Its use will not replace independent reading, writing, or critical thinking. The student must critically evaluate the suggestions of GenAI, verify their relevance to the A2 level, and document the tool, date, prompts, and decisions made. Peer feedback, collaboration, and the use of digital resources will also be promoted, while preserving individual voice and authorship. The teacher will act as a mediator, modeling writing strategies and responsible uses of GenAI to strengthen accuracy, clarity, cohesion, coherence, and critical thinking.
