AI can be helpful to teachers
Some thoughts on Ferlazzo’s, AI can be helpful to teachers, but despite what Sal Khan says, it will not be “the biggest positive transformation that education has ever seen.

Some thoughts…
The biggest positive transformation that education has ever seen…
Comment: ChatGPT began to emerge into the current zeitgeist at the end of November of 2022 - It’s hard to imagine anyone’s teaching practice remaining the same as long as they remain in the field. Thus, teaching will undergo the biggest transformation that has ever been seen (full stop).
[AI] has the potential of making our work in the classroom a whole lot worse if we don’t adapt to it (para. 3).
Comment: I’m trying to imagine not adapting current AI advancements to one’s teaching practice and still being able to create an educative experience as effective, efficient, and engaging…
I’m just seeing AI as another tool that, apart from language learning, has the potential, if we adapt, to be – at best – marginally helpful, in a few cases, to help create classroom conditions that support student intrinsic motivation.
Comment: I tend to take a stronger stance regarding AI and teaching. Where WiFi and able instructors exist, generative AI (along with human intelligence) will revolutionize teaching or teaching will become obsolete. Generative AI will be integrated into teacher planning, implementation, and assessment. Teacher planning, implementation, and assessment will involve all educational stakeholders (i.e., human intelligence) along with generative AI to make better educational decisions going forward. Moreover, generative AI will be integrated into teacher PD that will continue to intertwine to one’s teaching practice. Human and (generative) artificial intelligence will no longer be separate.
Certainly, where Wifi and instructors are not available, one or the other will continue to make due, offering a less than optimal educative experience.
