Course Description

This intensive course-workshop offers a comprehensive and practical approach to academic writing, focusing on the development of a well-structured, coherent and cohesive research article. Each week is dedicated to several specific sections, with daily activities including writing, revising and peer review.

The importance of unity, coherence and cohesion is emphasized, providing techniques for logical flow and effective use of transitions. Participating teachers will receive individual advice and feedback, culminating in a final project where they will present a complete research article, ready for publication.

Methodology

The 60-hour course is delivered in a blended environment, with in-person sessions from Monday to Friday (i.e., 15-hours per week), where participants will work individually, in groups, and as a whole group in the creation of written products that demonstrate skills in academic writing. A writing process approach will include pre-writing strategies, development of draft revisions, self-assessment, and peer assessment of written work. The rest of the activities will be online, through the institutional educational platform “Ámbito Académica” in its “Collegiate Work” space, which will allow participants to receive continuous feedback through mainly formative assessment approaches; that is, the feedback will provide the basis for future draft revisions carried out by the participating teachers.
